Lots of things to catch up on, so I’ll do my best with the time I have…
ELK RAPIDS INVITE
A good day! Many of the guys were still a bit worn from the conference meet, and that’s ok, that was the big meet of the week. Everyone ran well at this one, and if it weren’t so windy the times would certainly have been better. The places showed the story though. Great job to all! I know that some of you could have finished farther up, but that isn’t what it’s all about. It’s more about learning to push yourself, and doing more when your initial instinct is to back off and say that’s good enough. Racing through being tired is a lesson in competition, and it’s also a lesson in life. Toughen up!
A good potluck party as well! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and thanks for bringing a great spread of foods!

GAYLORD ROTARY INVITE.
A fine day in Gaylord to cap off the season for most of these runners! The third race in one week, and you would hardly know it. Just about everyone ran extremely well, if not at least a very strong race. My congratulations to all on a very good season!
Five guys get the opportunity to run the unofficial JV race at the regional championship this Saturday. So they get one more shot at a flat and fast course.
We had a few key figures either out with illness or recovering from, otherwise I would see us as finishing in second overall vs. the varsity from almost all of the other schools. (TCC & Petoskey ran 2nd team as well)
Congratulations on your season. Now let’s finish it off right, and see the Varsity through the end.

SIDE NOTE: I NEVER THOUGHT TO PUT THIS ON THE BLOG, BUT PLEASE DON’T PARK NEAR THE SCHOOL WHERE THE BUS IS GOING TO DROP US OFF! THE DRIVERS CAN’T GET IN, IT BECOMES VERY CONGESTED, AND IT JUST ISN’T NECESSARY IN THE LEAST. YOUR SON IS PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF WALKING QUITE A DISTANCE TO GET TO WHERE YOU PARK. IT’S ACTUALLY GOOD FOR HIM, AND IT’S FAR BETTER AT THE BACK CIRCLE. SO FOR WHAT’S LEFT OF THE SEASON DON’T PARK IN THE SCHOOL SIDE OF THE CIRCLE.

[[[[[[[[[ REGIONAL INFORMATION ]]]]]]]]]
Ok, I forgot to find out what the cost of the charter bus is for Saturday. I’ll have to find out tomorrow and post it then.
This Saturday the 27th we will run our regional championship race. We are Div. 1 Regional 2 (1-2) hosted by Grand Rapids Christian H. S. 15 schools with what appears to me to be a race primarily between 5 schools. We figure into this race heavily, as does Rockford, then there is TCC, Hudsonville and East Kentwood. Those are the teams that I see as the most likely contenders. Looks like a very good race brewing.
We all need to meet at the school at 10:15
The bus leaves at 10:30
2:00 – Div 2 girls
2:45 – Div 1 girls
3:30 – Div 2 boys
4:15 – — Div 1 boys be there!
5:00 JV race for the chosen 5 on our team.
We will stop at the 131 / 46 (?) intersection to eat on the way back home. I would expect that we’ll make it back to the school around 9:45 – 10:00.
All JV’s have been told that they are going because the Varsity wants them there for their support. At the same time they are to be courteous and respectful of the competition, race officials, — our own Varsity most of all, at the same time that they may well be riotous.
There is a $5.00 entry fee. I don’t know if our team members other than varsity will need to pay, but we’ll need to be prepared for that.
It’ll cost $2.00 for spectators to park a car. (I need to host one of these!)
Once at the course please be aware of the races and the course itself. Nerves are edgy, steer clear of your son until well after. Stay out of the way of the races… and enjoy!
Directions:
Take 131 south to Grand Rapids
take 96 East toward Lansing, around the east side of GR
Exit at 28th street going west
Turn left (south) on Broadmoor Ave
Follow Broadmoor south to 36th st.
Turn right on 36th
The course is located at the Christian Reformed Recreation Center – fellowship greens golf course, 3450 36th st. SE 49512. The spectator entrance is off of 36th street.
