MARATHON AIDE STATION INFO.

Here’s the info. for the marathon aide station this Saturday, in case you didn’t get an e-mail. 

We need to have you there at 6:30 am. That’s right, that early. The races start at 7:15, and we need to be set up and ready.

“There” is McKinley Rd. and East Shore Dr. on old mission peninsula. Past my place to McKinley, turn right, down the steep hill to the intersection (practically at the water) and the aide station will be right there. You can park along McKinley.

This will wind up between 12 & 1:00. Once we’re all cleaned up and there’s not much but walkers, then we get the ok to clear out.

I look forward to seeing you there. I will have the new team t-shirts for those that haven’t received them yet.    Z

Oh and by the way; you should dress warm enough for this, it isn’t very warm at 7:00 am. You can always take off layers as it warms up. There is no shelter, just a lot of water. So dress to be comfortable.

MEETING TIME > SUNDAY, MAY 18

Well here are the promised directions to my home on Edmar Dr.:

Find your way to Garfield Ave. & Front St. intersection,

Go north on Garfield / Peninsula Dr – onto the peninsula, and past the stoplight at Eastern Ave.

At the 2nd stoplight, bear to the right onto Center Rd.

After that – look for the 3rd street on the right, (Edmar Dr.)

Turn right on Edmar, mine is the first house on the left. 6128 Edmar.

This is all pretty much across Center Rd. from the First Congregational Church, if that helps.

ONCE HERE, PLEASE USE THE SIDEWALK TO THE RIGHT OF THE GARAGE, THAT WILL LEAD YOU AROUND TO THE BUSINESS ENTRANCE AT THE BACK OF THE HOME. THAT’S WHERE WE HAVE ROOM FOR THIS CROWD.

ALSO FOR PARKING, SOME MIGHT WANT TO PARK AT THE CHURCH LOT ACROSS THE STREET. OTHERWISE ALONG EDMAR, ETC. THERE WILL BE A LOT OF CARS.

*** CHANGE IN TIME FOR PHYSICALS ***

THEY HAVE CHANGED, – OR THE INFO. HAS IMPROVED- STATING THAT THE TIME FOR THE PHYSICALS IS NOW:

8:00 am UNTIL 11:00 am. -> not until noon as was stated before.

PHYSICALS FOR NEXT YEAR ARE BEING GIVEN THIS SATURDAY, THE 10TH FROM 8AM TO NOON. THAT IS AT EAST JR. HIGH.

GET’EM IF YOU NEED’EM, AND MOST DO. COST IS $20.

REMEMBER THAT ANY PHYSICAL FOR NEXT FALL NEEDS TO BE PERFORMED AFTER A CERTAIN DATE THIS SPRING. I’M NOT CERTAIN WHAT THAT DATE IS, BUT YOU CAN CALL THE ATHLETIC OFFICE TO FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ON THAT. (sometime -end of april, first week of may)

(remember that we must have a physical on file in order for the athlete to practice with the team. that means having one before the season begins)

HERE WE GO!

Well, yes it is still track season, and I don’t like to overlap. Still I don’t feel that I have much choice, things just work so much better if we meet and inform before the end of the school year. So forgive me while I intrude upon your track season. ( if you are indeed running it)

HERE’S WHAT IS COMING UP:

> Jr. High team meeting. For 7, 8 & 9th grades

Thursday May 15th at 2:00 – during resource hour. Meet in the gym balcony. Get a pass from Mrs. Brown. It will end when school ends.

> Sr. High team meeting. 10th & 11th grades

Thursday, May 15th right after school (right after, you can catch up with the girl later)

This will be a short meeting so that those prepping for the regional meet can get to practice.

>>> OF GREAT IMPORTANCE::

Sunday May 18th we will have a parent and team meeting at 5:00 pm at my home. (Edmar Dr.) Please come around the back to the pool room entrance.  This should take from 1 to 1 1/2 hours to cover what we need.

We have much to cover as usual, I’ll have the season schedule, we’ll outline summer training, plans, camp, etc. We will also talk about the two fundraisers that are set up.

++++ ONE IS THE BAYSHORE MARATHON. That is May 24th, we are again doing an aid station, so we need to have the whole team involved. I have been offered the job of being the support van driver with our big van, in order to add some more income for the team. Because of that, I will need to have 2 parents help out with the aid station. It starts about 6:30 am or so and ends about 1:00 pm. It shouldn’t be too bad with the experience of many of the guys that have worked it before. I will also be out on the course and in touch.

> As well as having as much info. as I can put together. I hope to have an order form for sweatshirts, possibly t-shirts on hand, hats and hopefully decals as well. So keep that in mind if you would like any of those things.

> I’ve also had a request about making an order for shorts like the uniform shorts. I’ll have info. on that if it can be done. (diff. colors, lengths, etc.) They’re inexpensive if we order the same style and likely just a couple of different colors.
